Author News: The Immortality Virus RErelease

March 18th 2024

Logo The Immortality Virus RErelease [1][IMAGE]Last week, my wonderful publisher at Twilight Times Books returned the rights to The Immortality Virus. This book, the second I ever published, first came out in 2011, and for reasons I'm not sure I can properly explain, still manages to be the only science fiction novel credit to my name. (Give me time; I'm still working!) Yesterday, I published the book as an Amazon exclusive. I chose exclusivity largely to enroll it in KDP Select and mak ...Continue Reading

November Author News

November 7th 2023

Logo World Fantasy Convention On October 27 and 28, I attended my first-ever World Fantasy Convention, which was held in Kansas City (essentially my backyard). I sat on a panel about romance in fantasy, and I heard from leaders in the fields of both fantasy and horror. I was even convinced to pick up a horror novel (The Fervor by Alma Katsu). I usually plant myself firmly on this side of dark fantasy, but it was Halloween and the mood was right and the book was fantastic. I also had the ...Continue Reading

The Final Escape

August 15th 2023

[1] Logo The Final Escape I’m super excited to share with you “The Final Escape” which was published by Factor Four Magazine. I wrote this story as sort of a tribute to my childhood love of portal fantasy stories. To me, it feels like The Chronicles of Narnia meets Peter Pan: wish fulfillment fantasy with a theme of growing up. It’s only about a thousand words, so best not to say more. And it’s free to read, so [2]check it out! Author’s Corner I’m still working on my YA fantasy ro ...Continue Reading

New Short Stories + FREE Urban Fantasy

May 3rd 2023

[1] Logo Yoga for Forgiveness Christine AmsdenMy latest flash fiction story, "Yoga for Forgiveness," is available to read for FREE at [2]Intrepidus Ink. This story is a yoga practice disguised as a science fiction story -- or possibly a science fiction story disguised as a yoga practice! Either way, it was a ton of fun to write, one of those true pleasures of the craft, and I hope you enjoy reading it as well. The icing on the cake was this cover art the magazine put together fo ...Continue Reading

November Newsletter: Please Stop Murdering Grandma

November 14th 2022

Logo Please Stop Murdering Grandma My latest short story publication is "Please Stop Murdering Grandma" -- a flash fiction piece you can enjoy right now in [1]Daily Science Fiction. For those unfamiliar with the term, flash fiction refers to short short stories, usually under 1,000 words. This particular story is under 500 words, but it manages to do a lot in a small space! One of the many things I've learned by devoting 2022 to short fiction is that I LOVE flash fiction s ...Continue Reading

Logo New Short Stories I'm thrilled to announce the release of two new, original short stories. "The Memory Exchange" is a 1400-word science fiction piece about the dangers of living someone else's life for a while. This was originally written in 2020 as a 750-word flash fiction story for a writer's group contest. When the cont ...Continue Reading
