New Release: Fantastic Schools Anthology
Fantastic Schools Anthology Volume 2
I’m thrilled to announce the release of Fantastic Schools Volume 2, an anthology of magic school themed short stories which include my own tale, “Too Good to Be True.” Here’s a blurb:
Have you ever wanted to go to magic school? To cast spells and brew potions and fly on broomsticks and—perhaps—battle threats both common and supernatural? Come with us into worlds of magic, where students become magicians and teachers do everything in their power to ensure the kids survive long enough to graduate. Welcome to ... Fantastic Schools.
Follow a mundane teacher striding into a world of magic, a spy on a mission, a guided tour of a magical school, a school dance for monsters, a dangerous reunion ... and many more.
Follow us into worlds different, magical ...
... And very human.

Author's Corner
As many of you know, I chose to devote most of 2020 to bringing change to my home state of Kansas – politically speaking. I worked on messaging and social media for a state senate campaign that didn’t do as well as we’d hoped but did narrow the voting gap by eight percentage points over four years ago. We had a big hill to climb, in other words, and we made progress.
I did try, now and again, to work on a new novel in 2020, but the effort fell on its face. I’ve spent a couple of months doing a postmortem, trying to figure out what went wrong, and I’ve come away with a few ideas. There was the distraction of the campaign, of course, but I can’t blame everything on that. The truth is that I forgot a few lessons of late. I forgot that other people’s notions of how long writing is “supposed” to take do not work for me. I forgot that my favorite critique buddy is brilliant and I should listen to her very carefully, even when she tells me to throw away a manuscript and start over. But most of all, I forgot to write for myself rather than play guessing games with the market.
With all those lessons firmly in mind, and with a pile of new writing how-to books to read for inspiration, I am starting a fresh project. I might get back to Night School at some point, but not until I’ve given myself plenty of space.
As always, I thank you for your support and encouragement.
Best,
Christine
